This year, the list of bangers just keeps growing weekly, so much so that making a best-songs-of-the-year list might be competitive. This is a testament to how much talent is brewing and has been developing in the Nigerian music industry. Kicking off this week’s new releases is Johnny Drille who has given us a new love song to romanticize over titled Believe Me.

Elsewhere, Mavin Records signee Bayanni’s hit song Ta Ta Ta gained the attention of American pop star Jason Derulo who has now hopped on the remix. As per our nature, we’ve curated a list of the top five trending new releases to get the weekend going. Enjoy!

Check out the top 5 trending new Afrobeats songs released this week…

#1. Johnny Drille – Believe Me

We’ve received a slew of songs from the Mavin Records camp this year but without a Johnny Drille record, it is definitely not complete. The super-talented singer-songwriter delivers a brand new single titled Believe Me. Produced by the boss himself Don Jazzy, Believe Me serves as Johnny Drille’s first official single for the year.

#2. Bayanni ft. Jason Derulo – Ta Ta Ta (Remix)

It’s been a big year for the Mavin Records camp as the signees have been dropping hit after hit, and it looks like it’s getting bigger. Right on the heels of the very successful, TikTok-famous song, Ta Ta Ta, Bayanni has tapped American pop star Jason Derulo to give the song a fresh spin. And that they did. The two bridged the gap between their cultures and the result is another hit.

#3. DJ Big N ft. Ayra Starr, Oxlade – How Many Times

Mavin records again! This time, the label’s official disk jockey, DJ Big N joins the rooster as he releases a new single titled How Many Times. On this new record, he collaborated with his label mate, Ayra Starr alongside super-gifted vocalist, Oxlade. DJ Big N, who joined Mavin Records as their official disc jockey in 2015, has since become a prominent figure in the Nigerian music industry and has worked with several top artistes.

#4. Mohbad – Ask About Me

Mohbad is known for his unique style of music, which blends hip-hop, afro-pop, and fuji music. His music is characterized by his signature street-wise lyrics, which often address the struggles of the common man in Nigeria, not discarding the raunchy part of his songs. These elements are what he brought into his new single titled Ask About Me. With production credit divided between Niphkeys and Nektunez, Ask About Me features a catchy beat layered with infectious Amapiano elements, and blessed by Mohbad’s viscous signature vocals.

#5. Omawumi ft. Yemi Alade – Love You Well

Nigerian veteran singer-songwriter, Omawumi has once again made an appearance in the public eye with a new single entitled Love You Well. On the song, Omawumi employs the services of high-profile songstress Yemi Alade, marking their first-ever collaboration. Love You Well is a danceable Afro-pop track that celebrates love and loyalty. With lyrics such as “I go dey love you well well o, no matter the weather baby,” it encourages lovers to stick by their partner irrespective of the challenges they’re met with. The song features a catchy beat, a memorable chorus, and strong vocal performances from both Omawumi and Alade.
