1. Jo Mersa Marley, grandson of Bob Marley and son of Stephen Marley, dead at 31

Joseph Jo Mersa Marley, the grandson of reggae legend Bob Marley and son of musician Stephen Marley, is dead. He was 31. Reports say a rep for the family has confirmed the musician’s death. At the time of this story, no cause of death has been given.

Marley was born in Jamaica and moved to Miami at the age of 11. A member of one of the most legendary families in reggae music, he and his cousin, Daniel Bambaata Marley, started making music together in their teens. His first official song, “My Girl,” was released in 2010 after years of singing alongside his uncle Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers—a group that also features two of his aunts, Sharon and Cadella.

Our condolences go to his family and friends.

Nigerian singer Zinoleesky appears to be ending the year on a high note and joining the long list of celebrities who acquired new mansions in 2022. The singer shared pictures of his mansion on social media while thanking God, and stating that his 2023 has already begun. “Thank you Lord! My 2023 already started,” he wrote.

Other celebrities and industry colleagues, as well as fans, have taken to the comment sections to congratulate the youngster on this feat.

Congratulations to Zinoleesky on his new acquisition.

3. South Africa: Netflix moves ahead with ‘Kings of Jo Burg’ after Shona Ferguson’s death

Netflix has released the official teaser for the second season of “Kings of Jo’burg” ahead of its release next month. Following the unexpected death of the creator, Shona Ferguson, the Masire family does their best to pick up the pieces without Simon ‘Vader’ Masire (played by the late creator).

Missing their late family member, they try to adapt to a new king while dealing with a supernatural curse, betrayal, and enemies. With menacing music in the teaser, it is obvious that someone or something big is coming and time is running out for the Masire brothers.

On what to expect from the new season, a press statement reads, “The sequel sees the executive producer & showrunner Samad Davis and executive producer Connie Ferguson teaming up again in what they both described as a tribute to the late great Shona.”

4. Lizzo tears up after flutist James Galway sends her personal Christmas greeting

Lizzo had a very happy holiday as she revealed the gift she received from one of her idols. On Sunday, December 25, the superstar singer, who is also a classically trained flutist, posted a clip to her social media accounts showing flutist Sir James Galway wishing her a merry Christmas.

The video sees Galway in front of a Christmas tree, playing holiday music on his flute. He then wishes Lizzo a happy holiday, saying he’s her “number one fan.” In a subsequent clip, Lizzo is seen crying in reaction to the video message, almost in disbelief.

5. Chelsea signs David Datro Fofana

Chelsea has confirmed a deal has been agreed upon for young Molde striker David Datro Fofana to move to Stamford Bridge in January. Graham Potter’s side has moved to strengthen their attack by signing the youngster from Erling Haaland’s former club Molde for a fee of £11 million ($12m). Fofana impressed in 2022 with the Norwegian club, bagging 15 goals and five assists in 24 matches, and will now hope he can make an impact in the Premier League.

“Chelsea FC has reached a pre-agreement with Molde FK for the transfer of David Datro Fofana,” according to a club statement. “The 20-year-old striker will join the Blues on January 1, 2023. We look forward to welcoming David to the club!”
