Nigerian designer Ituen Basi was one of many designers who presented their latest collections on the runways of at the just concluded Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town (#MBFWCT17) which took place at Salt River Studios on the 7th and 8th of April 2017.
The new collection titled ‘NKOYO’ features the signature deconstructive use of the Ankara fabric in combination with other unique fabrics and textures. According to the brand statement,
“The NKOYO collection is inspired by Ituen Basi’s beloved clients. Endless conversations with these faithfuls inspired a retrospective look at our most iconic pieces, which led to our revisiting, reimagining, reconstructing and reengineering their favourite pieces. As the brand prepares to celebrate its 10th year in Nigeria, it pays homage to the colourful culture it references in all its previous collections”.
