When the queen is in NYC you know it’s about to be lit! South Africa’s ultimate fashion IT girl, Bonang Matheba in partnership with Courvoisier South Africa, attended the just-concluded New York Fashion Week SS19 shows and needless to say she stole the week!
With the knowledge that the stakes were high to represent not only what she stands for but the fashion community in South Africa, Bonang certainly came correct in the way she approached her style throughout her visit.
While on her way stateside, Bonang showed off her Louis Vuitton luggage and carry-on as a way to highlight the fact that we should only expect a luxury level of style from her on this trip. We have to say she didn’t fall flat on expectations. In fact, Queen B stayed serving look after look, all week long!

For the first day, stepping out to see Angolan brand WeDú by Coréon Dú’s SS19 collection, Bonang kept her look very feminine and sweet as she paired a bomber jacket with a matching pleat skirt.

By the time she uploaded her next look, awe-struck, we thought; where does she go from here? The leopard print, leather glove, statement cage purse and black pumps – was a look that speaks so much volume; it announces itself and totally stays in the conversation! So, we concluded this would be tough to top or so we thought until she took a step back and delivered something so sober yet so intriguing which happened to be a puffy sleeve design by Filipino fashion designer Puey Quiñones.
Bonang was literally on fire through out fashion week! Not even the non-stop rains or NYFD (Hey! That’s the New York Fire Department) could dim her flame; and as the days rolled by it was clear that she was in full control of her looks and could have dished out more if NYFW didn’t end so fast.
