With a sophisticated cult following, womenswear label, Self Portrait has been spotted on leading ladies like Beyonce, Kerry Washington, Jessica Alba, Sonam Kapoor, Zendaya, Reese Witherspoon, and Naomi Harris just to mention a few.
Joining the list today is award-winning singer Tiwa Savage and the queen of luxury in Nigeria, Jennifer Obayuwana who were both recently spotted in a Self Portrait skirt.
Save wearing the same skirt from the same label, what we considered striking was how both women styled their skirts with tops from Nigerian designers. While Tiwa who played dress-up opted for a recent piece from the SS16 collection of one of her favorite Nigerian designers, Bridget Awosika, it was a relaxed situation for Jennifer who opted for an old but classic top from Ituen Basi‘s SS13 collection. While we love how both women individually styled their mesh mid-calf skirts, we love Tiwa’s classy style play even more.

1| Tuck in your blouse/shirt into the skirt (you can fly the blouse if it’s short enough like Jennifer’s).
2| Keep it clean and add a pop of color. Gold, Red, Turquoise, Aqua Green are appealing colours to pair with the skirt. If you are a minimalist then keep it extra clean with simple statement style additions.
3| Throw on a purse that matches your sneakers if you’re doing the sporty look or one to match your pumps/sandals if you’re keeping it classy.
