ast week, the best beauty looks came in steaming hot, offering more than enough heat to balance the cold weather. From the Fashion Weeks to birthday celebrations and movie premieres, there was really no space to serve mundane looks that had no fervor to them. As a result, it wouldn’t be far-reaching to compare the glam offerings of Black women at major events to hot sauce in meals. They really do go well together! hot makeup looks.

Few things can elevate a look from regular to sexy quite like red lipstick, and the stars agreed last week. Over in Italy, the sensational Sabrina Elba showed up for the Milan Fashion Week sporting a hot red lippie. The look, created by JDE Bruyne, featured well-defined brows and glass lids that added to the seductive effect of the clean beat. Surely, hot makeup looks don’t get hotter than this. 

Also making a case for red (but in a different part of the world) is the Queen of Afropop Tiwa Savage. The megastar recently inked a deal with MAC cosmetics that birthed the release of a fiery red lipstick line that correctly embodies the star. Speaking on the choice of color, the mother-of-one told Vogue Magazine, “I always admire when I see women in red lipstick. It’s sexy. It’s bold. It’s confident.” So, when Ms. Savage showed up for the MAC X TiwaSavage Masterclass in New York, her new lipstick came out to play, and girl it scored major points — adding an haute flair to an otherwise subtle look.  

Hair

Just as red lips can make any face card stand out, a bright color can have the same effect on the hair. Last week, Ciara challenged the subtility of fall by donning a bright orange hairdo as she announced her new single with Summer Walker, Better Thangs. The bust-length wavy option vibrated with sauce as it flattered her skin and strong facial features quite gracefully.
