1. Fashion designer Hedi Slimane leaves LVMH’s Celine

Hedi Slimane, the renowned fashion designer behind the rejuvenation of LVMH’s Celine, has officially stepped down from his role, marking another significant departure in the luxury fashion industry. Slimane, who joined Celine in 2018, quickly made his mark with his rocker-chic aesthetic and the introduction of menswear, fragrances, and makeup lines to the brand. His exit comes at a time when luxury fashion houses are navigating a challenging sales environment, particularly in China, where “brand fatigue” and economic concerns have affected demand. Under Slimane’s leadership, Celine’s revenue reportedly more than doubled, crossing the 2 billion euro mark.

Replacing Slimane is Michael Rider, a designer who worked closely with former Celine creative director Phoebe Philo. Rider will assume his new position in early 2025, with the task of reinvigorating the brand as the industry faces increasing competition and a slowdown in growth. Slimane’s departure has fueled speculation about more upheavals in the fashion world, especially with the creative director position at Chanel still vacant following Virginie Viard’s departure earlier this year. Fashion insiders have suggested that Slimane’s exit reflects a broader trend where designers are moved when their impact on sales diminishes, despite previous successes.

2. Wizkid confirms partner Jada P’s pregnancy

Nigerian music superstar Wizkid has confirmed that he and his partner, Jada P, are expecting their third child together. The news surfaced after a fan, Lord Popey, made a lighthearted comment about Wizkid’s recent behavior towards fellow artist Davido on the singer’s official X page. The fan playfully suggested that while Jada P might be pregnant, it seemed Wizkid was the one showing hormonal changes. In response, Wizkid enthusiastically confirmed the pregnancy, stating, “Yes o! We dey feel am together! Can’t wait to meet my new baby!”

The couple, who already share two children, has received an outpouring of congratulatory messages from fans and fellow celebrities following the announcement. Many have expressed their excitement for the growing family and are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new addition. The confirmation also generated significant buzz on social media, further cementing Wizkid’s role not just as a global music icon but also as a proud father.

3. Chris Brown adds a second date to his ‘Breezy in South Africa’ Joburg concert

Chris Brown has added a second date to his highly anticipated “Breezy in South Africa” concert in Johannesburg due to overwhelming demand. Originally scheduled for just one night on December 14, the R&B superstar will now perform a second show on Sunday, December 15, at the FNB Stadium. The concert organizers, Big Concerts, made the announcement on social media, citing “unprecedented demand” as the reason for the additional date.

Fans who missed out on tickets for the first show now have another opportunity to see the Grammy-winning artist live. Tickets for the newly added show will be available for purchase starting October 4 at 10 a.m., with pre-sale tickets having been released on October 2. With two back-to-back performances, the “Breezy in South Africa” concerts promise to deliver an unforgettable experience for fans.

4. Davido announces ‘A Good Time’ 5th-anniversary concert in Atlanta

Nigerian music sensation Davido has officially announced a special concert in Atlanta to celebrate the 5th anniversary of his groundbreaking album, “A Good Time.” The event, set to take place on November 21, also coincides with the superstar’s birthday, adding a personal touch to the celebration. Davido, who considers Atlanta his second home, shared the news on Instagram, inviting fans to join him for the double celebration and encouraging them to secure tickets for what promises to be a sold-out show.

“A Good Time,” released in 2020, marked a pivotal moment in Davido’s career, featuring 17 tracks and collaborations with international artists such as Summer Walker, Popcaan, and Gunna. The concert is expected to be a memorable occasion for Davido’s dedicated fan base, 30BG, and music enthusiasts alike, with a lineup of thrilling performances to honor the milestone of the acclaimed album.

5. Kylian Mbappe out of France squad despite injury return

Kylian Mbappe has been left out of France’s squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, despite making a return from injury earlier this week. The Real Madrid star, who missed the 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid due to a thigh problem, made his comeback during a 1-0 Champions League defeat to Lille on Wednesday. However, France head coach Didier Deschamps opted not to include the 25-year-old forward in the squad for matches against Israel and Belgium, citing concerns over his fitness. “He has a problem which is not serious, but I am not going to take risks,” Deschamps explained.

Mbappe, who has scored seven goals in 10 appearances for Real Madrid since joining in the summer, is joined on the sidelines by Antoine Griezmann, who recently retired from international football. Griezmann’s absence marks the end of a storied career that saw him earn 137 caps and help guide France to international success. Deschamps acknowledged the void left by Griezmann, saying, “He had such an impact that we can’t play in the same way.” Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku makes his return to the squad, while N’Golo Kante will miss out. France, second in Group 2 of League A, will play Israel on October 10 in Budapest due to security concerns, followed by a match against Belgium on October 14.
