hen Alexandra Elle said that Black women were created of brown sugar and warm honey, many may not have understood what she meant. But thanks to the noteworthy events that flooded last week, everyone had a chance to see for themselves that sweetness in the flesh. Whether it was the Gilded Glam argument of the MET Gala or the “Red & Fugitive” code for a movie premiere, last week, every major dolled-up moment was candied-ly unforgettable. And let’s not get started on the twice-the-charm cases we saw on Mother’s Day.

It’s only fitting that we start off with the Met Gala, and who better than Ciara? The mother-of-three was totally glamour in a barely-there look that accentuated her features. A strong winged liner and witchy lashes played up her eyes with a hint of silver. For her brows, the singer opted for an uber-sleek that kept the whole look coordinated. Although the rest of her face stayed subtle, we couldn’t ignore her well-contoured cheek which further emphasized her strong jawline. The look was simply breathtaking.
Last week, Nollywood and Netflix premiered their first TV series, Blood Sisters, co-produced by EbonyLife Studios. As expected, Mo Abudu — founder of EbonyLife Studios — showed up in full finesse. Her look boasts a thick smokey eye softened by nude lips. The result? An irresistible look truly fit for a media mogul in her moment.

Week after week, Black women remind us that it’s always better to wear our hair in all its glory. Whether it’s in protective options like braids and locs, or as a proud ‘fro, there’s nothing to be apologetic about. French model Didi Stone proved this again in a curly ‘fro that was definitely a crowning glory to her already killer look.
