American tech giant, Google, is launching a new platform for passionate beauty users where virtual makeup testing is now possible, all thanks to augmented reality technology. The project which is in collaboration with Modiface and Perfect corp is a must-have tool in the face of the global pandemic.
The holidays are fast approaching and a new eyeshadow or a special lipstick as a gift or treat to yourself can make a small but substantial difference. However, COVID eliminates the chances of trying the products directly and this makes finding the right shade a difficult task even for the most experienced. This is where help comes in from ModiFace technology, thanks to the collaboration between Google and L’Oreal.

Using the Google Gravity app, when searching for a make-up product, the “Test Makeup Online” suggestion appears. By clicking on it you access the L’Oreal virtual test section, where you can find products by categories. Some of the categories are eye-liner, eye pencil, brow, eyeshadow, mascara, foundation, concealer, highlighter, blush, primer, lip tint, lipstick, and lip pencil.
Other beauty brands are also available for Google virtual makeup testing such as MAC, Black Opal, and Charlotte Tilbury. Several features have been launched this week in the United States to improve the shopping experience, and as is often the case, they should soon roll out in other parts of the world.

While some brands had already anticipated this transformation long before the pandemic, others are now accelerating the pace to offer this innovative service to their users. And it doesn’t stop there; you can also get product suggestions. By browsing Google Shopping, for example, you can find tips and recommendations from enthusiasts and experts in various fields, such as fashion and beauty. These first tools should quickly give way to a complete overhaul of services dedicated to online cosmetics shopping in the coming years—perhaps even months.
