1. Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade launch a new line of baby hair care

Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade have launched a new baby haircare line. The couple announced the line called “Proudly,” which is “a community-forward brand that uplifts melanated babies through self-care products.” They decided to start this brand, inspired by their daughter Kaavia, to help meet the needs of Black and brown children. “Kaavia is becoming very independent and wants to do her own wash days, but a lot of hair care products are made for adults,” Gabrielle said. “Those shampoos and conditioners aren’t hypoallergenic or tear-free, so it was important for us to create safe baby hair products.”

Gabrielle went on to speak about brands needing to be transparent about their products. “It isn’t easy for Black-owned companies to receive this verification, so we feel grateful to have it. We want to offer our kids the best options available.” Their line “Proudly” is being sold at Target and includes shampoo, conditioners, and a detangler. Each product will have ingredients that will cater to natural hair.

2. Burna Boy among the artistes selected for NBA 2K24 Soundtrack

Nigerian megastar Burna Boy has made the soundtrack list for the NBA 2K24. Since enjoying international success in 2018 with his single “YE,” Burna Boy has gone on to become one of Africa’s most successful artistes. In 2022, he enjoyed international success with his Grammy-nominated hit single “Last Last” and it’s likely to be the song that’s featured on NBA 2K24.

Burna Boy recently released his seventh album “I Told Them” which became the first album by an African artiste to debut at No. 1 on the UK Official Albums Chart. The Grammy winner joins other American and international heavyweights like Lil Wayne, Central Cee, Steve Lacy, and the 2023 breakout sensation Ice Spice on the NBA 2K24 Soundtrack

3. South Africa: Lira makes a rare appearance to sing after suffering a stroke

Seventeen months ago Lira suffered a stroke while in Germany which affected her ability to communicate. Since then, the Afro-pop singer has been sharing her recovery journey with her followers and has made a few appearances. She recently received a standing ovation from attendees at the annual RMB Starlight Classics when she took to the stage to perform Miriam Makeba’s hit song “Ntjilo Ntjilo” with singers, Sunnyboy Dladla and Masabane Rangwanasha after being spotted by the host of the evening Katlego Maboe.

“This was so surreal. I was keen to try. I did it. I had the awesome voices of Sunnyboy Dladla and Masabane Rangwanasha who supported me. There’s still a long way to go before I can sing on my own, let alone sing at a full concert, but this is a very positive step in my recovery. I’ve been singing to loosen up my tongue. It has helped [me] to speak better and I do it as part of my recovery,” she wrote when reflecting on the performance.

4. JAY-Z to host $1 million charity blackjack party for REFORM Alliance

JAY-Z is set to host a 007-themed party on Saturday, September 30 at Atlantic City’s Ocean Casino Resort to raise funds for REFORM Alliance, according to reports. The publication reported that the star-studded event will have a $1 million jackpot that will be donated by Ocean Casino Resort. Attendees would have to pay a $100,000 buy-in fee to participate in the blackjack tournament, while non-tournament attendees will have to give a minimum of $50,000 to the charity. It will be limited to 300 guests.

The Roc Nation boss hopes to raise $20 million to transform probation and parole laws under REFORM, which is co-chaired by him, Michael Rubin, and Meek Mill. “It was JAY’s idea to make a really small, incredibly exclusive event with the best people in the world.
