In late January, former NFL quarterback and now minor league baseball player Tim Tebow flew his family and friends across the Atlantic as he married Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in an intimate sunset wedding ceremony in her home country of South Africa.
The couple who got engaged in January 2019 after more than a year of dating, met in 2018 at Tim’s annual Night to Shine event, which is a worldwide prom for people with special needs. Demi-Leigh was there with her special needs younger sister Franje, who tragically passed away last May due to cerebellar agenesis.
Tim Tebow and Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters held their wedding ceremony at the La Paris Estate in Cape Town. The wedding ceremony followed a weekend of glamorous pre-wedding celebrations which Tim Tebow documented on social media.
Tim Tebow, 32, a devout Christian who vowed to stay abstinent until marriage, mixed tradition with a personal touch for his vows, wanting them to be perfect. “I want the vows to be perfect. I’m leaving in the traditional things like, ’till death do us part,’ but I’m also adding some of my own things to it.” he explained in a video.
Demi-Leigh, 24, who’s a model for David’s Bridal, wore a custom gown by the wedding dress giant and accessorized with Marion Rehwinkel Jewellery. Tim, on the other hand, wore a tuxedo designed by Antar Levar. The wedding ceremony had celebrities like Bonang Matheba and designer Gert Johan Coetzee in attendance.
For their rehearsal dinner which took place the previous Sunday, the groom looked handsome in a burgundy print suit layered over a black dress shirt. Demi-Leigh looked breathtaking in a strapless sequin, red jumpsuit complete with silver heels.
