1. Frank Ocean hints at new album during 2023 Coachella set

On Sunday, April 16, Frank Ocean closed out the final night of Coachella’s first weekend. Those who couldn’t make it to Indio, California planned to enjoy the long-awaited set via YouTube; however, just hours before the 35-year-old was scheduled to go on, it was announced his performance would not air. “Frank Ocean is not scheduled to appear on the Coachella livestream. The current schedule is in the description,” the company tweeted with a link.

The disappointment soon faded once another announcement was made. During his set, Frank Ocean teased that a new album could be on the way. “It’s been so long, but I have missed you. I wanna talk about why I’m here, ‘cause it’s not because of a new album — not that there’s not a new album — but there’s not right now,” he said as the crowd screamed in excitement. The “Novacane” artiste also shared a sweet message honoring his late brother Ryan Breaux, who passed away at just 18 years old in 2020 after a car accident.

2. Davido hosts press conference ahead of Lagos concert

On April 17, Davido hosted a press conference to discuss plans for his upcoming concert. Davido’s “Timeless” album is enjoying unprecedented success as it has shattered every first-week Nigerian record across all five major streaming platforms in Nigeria. The megastar is set to perform the album for the first time in Nigeria in a show at Tafawa Balewa Square Lagos (TBS) on April 23. TBS is regarded as West Africa’s biggest concert ground as it can hold an excess of 50,000 persons.

At the press conference held in Lagos Nigeria, Davido spoke about the “A Timeless Night” concert which he promises to be an exciting experience. While addressing the press, he reassured fans that he has visited the Lagos State Commissioner of Police who promised to beef up the venue with extra security.

Alongside a snap of herself showing off her growing bump, she wrote on Instagram: “God is a woman.”

Meanwhile, Stunna—whose real name is Khalick Antonio Caldwell—took to his own social media platforms to share the news that he is to become a father for the first time.

Congratulations to the couple.

5. NFL QB Jalen Hurts reaches historic deal with the Philadelphia Eagles

On Monday, April 17, ESPN Senior NFL Insider Adam Schefter revealed Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts reached a new agreement with the team. The deal extends the star athlete’s time in the “city of brotherly love” for another five years and $255 million, which includes $179.304 million guaranteed. With the stroke of a pen, Hurts reportedly became the highest-paid player in the league’s history in a deal negotiated by agent Nicole Lynn and Eagles general manager Howie Roseman.

Hurts seemingly had the best year of his young NFL career during the 2022-’23 season. The former University of Alabama QB improved his stats in nearly every category, led his team to a No. 1 playoff seed and eventually the Super Bowl, and was a finalist for the league’s Most Valuable Player award. Like Hurts, the deal is also monumental for Lynn, a Black female sports agent. After messaging him on social media, the 34-year-old Houston resident landed the opportunity to represent the Eagles quarterback. After meeting with Hurts, Lynn secured the partnership, and she and Hurts have since worked to create history.
