A fashion and culture enthusiast who's really a food loving…
For Spring 2018, Og Okwonkwo, Creative Director of Style Temple, was inspired by traditional Nigerian menswear paraphernalia; such as a distinct print and embroidery that forms the belt for the coats and base for shift dresses in this new collection, which she drew from a common Hausa/Fulani hat worn by men across Northern Nigeria. This hat signifies the power and elevated place of men in a deeply patriarchal society like Nigeria.
She was also inspired by the impeccable structure and tailoring associated with men’s suits. Og wanted to explore how women can, through clothes, ultimately reclaim their power and place. The collection stayed true to the Style Temple DNA with a clean neutral palette that comprises of soft blue, pink and white hues. Rich in intricate detailing, the collection also flirts with the idea of fluidity, movement and structure.
