Nigerian womenswear label, Grey tells a printastic story with its new Resort 17 Collection. The collection is a continuation of Grey’s SS17 “Who is She?” collection, however, the brand’s Creative Director, Rukky Ladoja sheds more light and detail on the prints used in the previous collection which was shown at Lagos fashion and design week 2016.
Grey is a brand that has always been known for its colourful and fun prints and this time it is no different as the brand takes it up a notch with its own custom made prints designed by Oseyi Etomi. According to the artist, the prints draw inspiration from the traditional Yoruba Queen. The designs focus on the Yoruba Queen’s accessories such as her crown, her necklaces, beads, combs and her staff which the designer artistically present on a variety of textile options including jacquard, satin, chiffon and the brand’s signature laser cutting.
Just in time for summer, the Resort ’17 Collection comes in beautiful shades of pink,orange and green and comprises mostly of separates – perfect for mix and matching – in clean cuts with a nod to asymmetry and layering.
