Some say that when in doubt, wear red. This means that when one feels confused about what to wear, a red dress will always come in handy. But it doesn’t always work this way. Studies have shown that a red dress is always a conscious choice for a bold look. Aside from passion and love, for which it is popularly known, red is also a color for power.

Last week, beauty enthusiast and founder of Beauty By AD, Adeola Adeyemi, took her red-carpet host duty personally at the grand opening of Tank & Tummy restaurant. She wore a red long-sleeved Hertunba blazer dress. A blazer dress plus the red hue equals a double dose of feminine power and spirit. And that’s not all. This dress is designed with tulle ruffles at its hem and shoulder, adding a playful vibe to the outfit in general. To sum it all up, Adeola stunned the event oozing a rich scent of feminine power and wonder. If there’s any occasion where you need to emphasize your feminine energy, this is the frock for you.

#2. Yvonne Jegede: lacey fab

Last week, fashionable Nigerian celeb Yvonne Jegede wore a T.E_Women white lace dress. An owanbe isn’t complete if no melanin-poppin’ lady slays in this type of fit. The figure-hugging, plunging V-neck number features beads and floral details that exude sensuality and glamor. Save this for your Saturday wedding guest slay.

#3. Liquorose: sporty cool

There are different outfits for different occasions, moods, places, and seasons. On days when a woman decides to cut down on the excesses and play the cool girl, she might opt for the sweatshirt and sweatpants combo.

Does this mean sweatshirts and sweatpants are un-ladylike? Negative. It means you’re deciding to look cool at the same time as staying comfy, warm, and of course, gorgeous. BBNaija star Liquorose knew this too well in this green sweatshirt and black sweatpants combo. It’s true that no one can separate a woman from her heels, and running with this knowledge, she topped it off with beige sandals. We love a self-aware baddie.

#4. Ebube Nwagbo: the merger

There will always be a need to step out of familiar territory and partner with other textures. This mixed feeling births marriages like linen blazers with denim shorts or silk mini skirts paired with cotton button-ups. As the beautiful Nollywood actress Ebube Nwagbo went out and about the streets of London, she did so in a denim corset, peach palazzo pants, and peach pumps. The denim corset gave both an edgy and alluring look, while the palazzo offered a laid-back casual vibe. This is the combo you rock to a daytime brunch where formality isn’t the point of call.

#5. Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori: the drama

There’s always an outfit to celebrate victory — a jaw-dropping, neck-turning piece of art. We see these kinds of outfits at grand red carpet events and award ceremonies. Dresses for such occasions express a lady’s joy and excitement. In other words, it captures the will to not only win an award but everyone’s attention.

Social media comedienne Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie) donned a breathtaking Amy Aghomi dress to the Hereconomy gala and award night. The ball gown boasted a sleeveless U-shaped corset and a bulky tulle train. This piece is a statement of perfection. You should wear this if the plan is to step on necks, or preferably, break them.

#6. Nancy Isime: black edge

Another color that signifies power and boldness is black. Feast your eyes on this all-black Medlin Couture getup that looked beautiful on Nancy Isime last week at the JCI Exhibition and Seminar. The peplum blazer with frilled details on the hem and neck area was a boujee stunt pulled off with skill. This is an outfit you wear when there’s a crowd of people who need to take you seriously.

#7. Beverly Naya: understated charm

Plain, midi denim skirts are often considered simple. However, the simplest outfit can be spiced up in incredible ways. A corset and midi skirt might seem understated, but not in Beverly Naya’s books. Her denim-on-denim look effortlessly nailed it. The corset and high-slit midi proves that “simple” still got it.
