Halloween hasn’t arrived yet, but stars have already rolled out all the bold colors to create a festive mood. That upbeat sensibility has manifested both online — where stars have used their social media to create mini editorials for fans — and out in the real world at events. While scrolling down our Instagram feed last week, we caught a few of our favorite fashionable Black men who served clarity and confidence in vibrant colors.
The looks
In the past few days, South Africans have uploaded months’ worth of fashion forward photos on the gram sporting pieces from the likes of Arnette, Versace and Gucci seeing as last week was GQ South Africa’s Best Dressed Awards. The allure of street style glitz proved powerful as creative Director Trevor Stuurman dazzled as he layered fall colours. Wearing a forest green trench coat with honey-yellow leafy prints over a white t-shirt, he matched the top half of his ensemble with a pair of yellow pants and brown leather boots. Finally, he finished off the look with a white Crystal Birch hat, a pair of Burberry sunglasses and a black leather Gucci tote. The result? A young and directional hip look.
On the streets of Lagos, Nollywood actor Daniel Etim Effiong celebrated world champagne day with Moët & Chandon in a cream and gold ensemble alongside other celebs and influencers. His look was certainly pop-worthy and brought together a metallic gold top with flattering drape detail and classic cream pants paired with matching sneakers. Daniel’s two-color ensemble was a clever representation of the event’s theme: French Imperial daytime glamour. Our favorite part of the outfit? The edgy accessories added a certain glam to the entire look.
There’s no doubt about it that last week gave us some of the most unexpected slays from fashionable Black men. Although there’s still some uncertainty surrounding global affairs, fashionistas are moving to the beat of their own drum.
