It’s election season in Nigeria and everyone is gearing up for a change in power. As many Nigerians are getting ready to vote in the home of Afrobeats on February 25, Nigerian artistes are offering more jams to add to the election day playlist to entertain the people as they get ready to vote. One of them is Falz, who teamed up with Tekno to give us Owa, a politically charged song to get us ‘gingered’ before D-day.

Elsewhere, rising star Majeed teams up with the queen of Afropop, Tiwa Savage to give us a banging new Afrobeats-Amapiano tune titled Gbese. Other Afrobeats artistes also blessed us this week. As a result, we’ve curated this list of the best and trending top five for your listening pleasure.

Check out the top 5 trending new Afrobeats songs released this week…

#1. Falz ft. Tekno – Owa

Ahead of the long-anticipated presidential election in Nigeria, Falz, accompanied by Tekno, renders a socially-conscious single titled Owa. In the new song, both acts share their own experiences of the anomalies that every Nigerian is met with day after day. Owa is complemented by an interpretive music video directed by Oyetwopointo and Falz himself.

#2. Stormzy ft. Rema – Hide & Seek (remix)

Internationally acclaimed British rapper and music star, Stormzy, has released an exciting new remix of his previously dropped track, Hide & Seek. This latest version features none other than the raving king himself, Rema, who brings his signature Afrobeats vibe to the already amazing song. The Rema remix is a fantastic record as it gives the entire song an Afrobeats spin and a fresh take.

#3. Majeeed ft. Tiwa Savage – Gbese

Rising singer and songwriter, Majeeed blesses his fast-growing audience with this jaw-dropping song titled Gbese. He is joined by one of the top-notch female singers in the industry, Tiwa Savage, who continues her streak of not having a bad song or feature. Gbese is a fusion of Afrobeats and Amapiano, two of Africa’s globally-loved sounds. Majeeed teaming up with the African Bad Gal is the right tonic for a great new single, especially when weeks are hot with jams back-to-back.

#4. Kel-P – True Love

We really are in an era where Nigerian music producers are pivoting into singing and rapping. Joining the growing list of artistes who have made this transition is Kel-P, who just released his second single, True Love, a song that he wrote, performed, and produced—a triple threat. With a combination of its catchy melody and Kel-P’s already-established fanbase, this tune is set to take off and become a fan favorite.
