No festival is complete without a delicious meal and Eid-el-Kabir is no exception. Muslims all over the world come together to honour this festival with the sacrifice of ram/cow and the preparation of celebratory dishes. This is perhaps the best time to relish homemade recipes and most importantly enough consumption of ram meat aka Sallah meat.
Eid-el-Kabir also called Eid-al-Adha is the most important Muslim holiday which precedes the Eid-el-Fitri holiday. It is the festival of sacrifice used to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son, Isma’il (Ishmail) as an act of submission to Allah’s command. The slaughtering of ram is perhaps the most catchy event of the festival as it is expected that every Muslim home kills at least a ram to mark the celebration.
In honour of Eid-el-Kabir, popular blogger Sisi Yemmie shares a mouth-watering recipe of ram and sweet potatoes. According to her, the sweetness of the sweet potatoes and the earthy flavour of the pepper soup spices is a very delicious combination.
