With the lockdown still very much in place in most places around the world due to the growing coronavirus pandemic, music is about the only thing that keeps most of us feeling safe. Thanks to Simi for making our hearts beat to the sound of Duduke.

Whilst Simi was giving us the sounds of her heart in Duduke, Kelly Rowland was serving us Coffee. And by Coffee, Kelly served stunning models in all shades of brown in her latest video directed by Steven Gomillion. The models were minimally styled in Left on Friday swimsuits in rich hues of brown — think chocolate, cappuccino and espresso.

As the ladies took over the music scenes, Nigerian music artist Dremo dropped his long-awaited album titled Codename Vol 2. Afrobeat stars Falz, Mayorkun, and Shatta Wale also make it to this week’s hot lineup.

Abandon all your worries this weekend and elevate your mood with these thoughtfully curated Afrobeat songs by top African artistes.

As always, remember to wash your hands frequently, boost your immune system, and most importantly, stay safe! Stay home!

Here are some of the hottest trending songs you should listen to this weekend…

1. Kelly Rowland – Coffee

How do you like your coffee in the morning? Well, multiple Grammy award-winning artist, Kelly Rowland is here to serve different shades of Coffee. Kelly revealed to Essence that she wants to “celebrate the women in video — every shade, every coffee color, every curve, every essence and what they gave me.”

2. Simi – Duduke

With the release of Duduke, Simi revealed her baby bump proving her fans right that the song is dedicated to her unborn child. This is one song that will make you turn up the volume and move slowly to the beats. Once again, Simi has won our hearts!

3. Sam Smith, Demi Lovato – I’m Ready

If you love Sam Smith and Demi Lovato and are ready for someone to love you, then their collaboration on I’m Ready will blow your mind away! This is the first single off Smith’s third studio album due out later this year.

4. Falz ft Ms Banks – Bop Daddy

6. Mayorkun – Of Lagos

The “Mayor of Lagos” Mayorkun proves his claim once again as he delivers a new vibe titled Of Lagos shortly after giving us not just one but three Geng remixes. The DMW singer is not slowing down any time soon and you’d definitely be moving to this beat!

7. Shatta Wale – Stand Tuff

Ghanaian artiste Shatta Wale wants you to Stand Tuff as he pushes a “kill me, I kill you approach.” He sings about karma and says “if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.” This tune has quickly become a street anthem and maybe soon you’ll have it on repeat at your Zoom parties.
