Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana took the high fashion train to New York on Sunday where they presented the Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2018 Alta Moda Collection, the brand’s high-end couture womenswear component. The presentation which was a one-of-a-kind extravagant show held at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center.
In true Dolce & Gabbana fashion, the show featured a diverse cast of models with fashion IT-girls like Naomi Campbell, Halima Aden, Ashley Graham, Lori Harvey and Sonia Ben Ammar emerging from a cascading, flower-strewn staircase wearing jaw-dropping couture creations. The Alta moda collection was punctuated with sequins, feathers, cinched waists, and extravagant headpieces. Motifs took from the city of New York and featured references to the statue of liberty, iconic skyscrapers, yellow cabs, and the skyline taking form in corseted gowns, fur-trimmed jackets and embellished dresses.
The men’s Alta Sartoria presentation which held the day before at the Rainbow Room was nearly as elaborate as the women’s.
