Afrobeats superstar, Davido thrilled fans as he gave a 12-minute performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk home concert in celebration of black history month. The 30BG boss gave viewers an entertaining virtual performance with his live band on February 24, 2021. Davido performed from home as he dished out hits like “Risky” and “Jowo” on the set of NPR’s Tiny Desk.
During his performance on NPR’s Tiny Desk, Davido cited his father as a source of inspiration. He said: “A Nigerian American like myself that studied in the States. I went to an HBCU, you know. My dad went to one as well and my dad used to work at Burger King. To become what he’s become today as a Black man starting off in America has been very, very inspiring to me.”
2. Music legend, Stevie Wonder to move to Ghana

Stevie Wonder is planning out his future. The music legend recently revealed to Oprah Winfrey that he is set on heading out to West Africa to spend his remaining years. “I wanna see this nation smile again, and I want to see it before I leave to travel to move to Ghana,” Wonder, 67, told Winfrey in a recent interview. “Because I’m going to do that.”
According to the celebrated musician, he plans to move in an effort to protect his grandchildren from the racial injustice and prejudice that he feels is pervasive in the American society. He has reportedly been considering a move to Ghana for more than 25 years.
3. South Africa: Minnie Dlamini-Jones surprises Basetsana Khumalo with a Range Rover
In a video posted on her Instagram account, Basetsana Khumalo received a Range Rover from Minnie Dlamini-Jones. Minnie is seen driving up to Basetsana’s mega-mansion saying, “I’m so excited, I’m surprising a very special lady with a very special car, I hope she likes it.”
The former “Top Billing” presenter then walks out of her front door. Minnie then screams “surprise” and goes on to tell Basetsana the car is an SVR carbon edition.
With this new Range Rover, Basetsana becomes the latest brand Ambassador for Range Rover South Africa. The vehicle is the only of its kind available in South Africa at the moment.
Taking to social media, Basetsana showed her appreciation for the highly expensive gift. She wrote: “It is the very first and only one in the country and it’s in my porte cochère. Delivered by the gorgeous @minniedlamini. It’s been an amazing day! Supremely proud and delighted to be the Brand Ambassador for #RangeRoverSport.”
4. Ghana: COVID-19 vaccination starts Tuesday

Ghana is set to begin COVID-19 vaccination from next Tuesday as part of her measures to stop the further spread of the viral disease. This follows the arrival of the first consignment of 600,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield, in Accra yesterday.
The vaccine arrived at exactly 7:45 a.m. aboard Emirates Airlines flight EK787, shifting global attention onto the country for chalking up another first. Ghana became the first African country to receive the COVID-19 vaccine from the COVID-19 Vaccine Global Access Facility (COVAX), which has 92 beneficiary countries signed on to it, the World Health Organisation (WHO) reported.
5. Mendy ready to ‘fight’ Kepa & Caballero for Chelsea No.1 spot

Edoaurd Mendy has vowed to “fight” Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero at Chelsea, with the Senegal international player taking nothing for granted when it comes to the Blues’ starting goalkeeper post. A shot-stopper snapped up by Frank Lampard during the summer of 2020 has been a go-to option between the sticks at Stamford Bridge this season, with Thomas Tuchel keeping him as No.1 since inheriting the managerial reins in west London.
“I fight with Kepa but with Willy as well,” he said. “The coach has said that he needs three strong goalkeepers. We need to be ready and we have to show it to start on the pitch.”
Kepa, a £71 million ($100m) asset, has seen game time as well, though, while experienced Argentine Caballero has been a reliable performer whenever handed competitive minutes.
