1. Davido to release documentary on Netflix

Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced a documentary on global streaming giant, Netflix. Davido, who has been promoting his recently released album, “Timeless,” made this known during an interview with the Dubai-based media house, Esquire Middle East. According to the star, the docuseries, titled “David,” focuses on his life.

Speaking on the project, the award-winning singer said, “I have a movie coming out in December with Netflix. It’s very, very big. This is the first time I’ve said anything about it, actually. It’s a documentary-a docu-series about my life called ‘David’. I shouldn’t be talking about this.”

A post shared by Niatia Kirkland (@lilmama)

Rapper, actress, and entrepreneur Lil Mama, whose real name is Niatia Jessica Kirkland, recently shared the news that she is launching a new beauty brand Vaniteaset Cosmetics, and the collaboration with jewelry company Aporro for her “It’s Poppin” collection. She shared the promo video on her Instagram page.

In the video, Lil Mama is seen admiring her own reflection in a vanity mirror while the instrumental to “Lip Gloss” plays in the background. She also showcases some of the products that would be available for purchase, including eye shadow, makeup brushes, highlighter, and lip gloss. The jewelry collection includes charm bracelets and nameplate necklaces.

3. South Africa: Bonang Matheba drops much anticipated ‘B’Dazzled’ Episode 2 trailer

From Johannesburg to New York and Dallas, Episode 2 of Bonang Matheba’s “B’Dazzled” promises to take fans on a fashion world “takeover” and Matheba grows her empire. After weeks of patiently waiting to get a taste of what the new episode would bring, Bonang released a 46-second trailer on Tuesday night. In it, she gives South Africa an update on her battle with Celebrity Services Africa (CSA), and she also stated that she is still unable to quantify and articulate the pain she felt as a result of her far-from-amicable fallout with her former agency.

In 2021, Bonang announced she terminated her contract with CSA and took legal action against the global agency, saying she has “instructed my lawyers to investigate the possibility of criminal conduct by the company and its representatives.” The agency hit back at the media personality’s accusations, dismissing them as being without merit and accusing her of telling “half-truths” about the situation.

4. Judge denies Tory Lanez new trial in Megan Thee Stallion shooting case

Tory Lanez will not be granted a new trial after he was found guilty in December 2022 of shooting superstar Megan Thee Stallion in a July 2020 incident. As previously reported, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the two entertainers found themselves at the center of a Hollywood Hills shooting scandal. Megan was wounded in her foot by a firearm said to be used by Lanez. The Canadian rapper, who has maintained his innocence, could face up to 22 years and eight months in prison for the crime.

On May 8, Jose Baez, the attorney representing the “Say It” singer, argued that prosecutors exhibited misconduct and had errors in their procedure. According to reports, Baez also claimed discovery violations contributed to his client being convicted on one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, having a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. However, a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford shattered Lanez’s hope for freedom.

5. Jack Grealish becomes DJ Grealo, teams up with Oliver Heldens and OKX for his debut on the decks

Manchester City’s training kit sponsor — cryptocurrency exchange company OKX — has teamed up with Dutch future house pioneer Oliver Heldens in order to make possible something no one ever thought they’d see: England’s maverick winger and the country’s favorite pair of calves Jack Grealish behind the decks. Jack’s always fancied trying his hand at DJing. In fact, he once famously told the press that if he wasn’t a footballer he’d be a club promoter in Ibiza or Tenerife. Learning to DJ with Oliver Heldens, then, is a dream come true for Grealish.

Heldens took the winger under his wing a few months back and DJ Grealo has taken to music like a duck to water. Heldens compares DJing to playing on the wing — timing runs in behind and knowing when to come short, not getting caught offside. He reckons these qualities will help Grealish with his timing and rhythm, matching up beats and knowing when to add flourishes and when to keep it simple. He makes a compelling point. OKX and Heldens haven’t just made this happen for the fun of it, though. The OKX collective metaverse will host DJ Grealo’s debut performance with Oliver Heldens. The virtual event will be free to attend, closing the gap between players and fans.
