Once fashion was seen as derailing for strong Christians or Muslims and one’s faith could be questioned if you were a fashionista, and at the same time a devout. But as the fashion space keeps evolving, there is growing room for religious inclusions and no longer are fashion and religion at loggerheads. This welcomed change has led to the rise of conservative yet really stylish muslim women who we like to refer to as the ‘muslimah fashionista’.
Muslimah style has also expanded to become more weather-specific. So we see a changing course from the once upon a time uptight and rigid looks to more flexible styles now, influenced by seasons and trends. Online, the muslimah fashionista is leading the change in this narrative. We now have collections, blogs, and runway shows dedicated to just muslimah fashion.
One of the major features of new emerging muslimah style is the Chic x Street trend. We have recently spotted chic cold weather street styles served by top muslimah fashionistas in different pieces like statement shirts, sweaters, ripped jeans, cameo, leather boots and maxi skirts, and of course, always crowned with a Hijab.
