As this week draws to an end, we are giddy with excitement just imagining celebrity style takes that will fall on us this weekend. The current growth of the fashion scene especially in Nigeria proves that while celebrities love to play dress up, many have come to terms with the power that their style holds to their personal brand.
With that we’re noticing more intentional styling. Why? Well, because it’s not just about what you wear but what your outfit says about you; that’s the branding effect. Those who have caught on aren’t just into throwing clothes on anymore but are more into what each piece provokes for their brand.
We can call Lagos the fashion capital of Africa (but we know Johannesburg will argue that fact), and Lagos-based celebrities know that stepping out to functions as little as brunch means being judged for how they style or fail to coordinate their looks; that’s just the nature of the job they signed up for. So whether they are in the country or not, Lagos top style stars always step out in casual or fierce pieces, depending on what the day demands.
Last weekend, there were lots of activities that required stepping out in style, and as usual, we were on the look out for the most rave-worthy looks! Celebrities, socialites and personalities like Toyin Lawani, Kika Osunde, Genevieve Nnaji, and Cynthia Nwadiora made #TheRaveList, with Chioma Ikokwu leading the pack in a simple yet stunning “Gucci-fied” emerald green tulle dress.
