Last Week’s Best Beauty Looks Were A Beguiling Addition To The Slay Convo

reativity and trend-savviness — both hallmarks of black celebrities — were front and center as the girls went outside last week. Beguiling smokey eyes that played up a sultry, feminine aura, understated doll-ups that spoke to the quiet luxury fad, and voluminous hairstyles all featured prominently among the stars. The NAACP Image Awards served as the last leg of the showdown as the girls exploded on the carpet in a slew of offerings that were modern, witty, and downright contagious.

The Looks

Makeup

With 2024 spring on the horizon, celebrities took on the past week in makeup looks you will want to try in the blooming season. One such star was Yara Shahidi, who majored effortlessly for a surprisingly hard doll-up. For the NAACP Image Awards, she looked stunning in an if-you-blink-you-miss-it look. She was the embodiment of easy slay, featuring full, sleek brows, barely-there liner, and a soft contour. Yet, even “toned down for the red carpet” can need a little punch, and burgundy lips did the trick. LA-based makeup artist Cherish Brooke Hill created this look for those who desire understated glam.

If Yara’s look may be too soft for your liking, and you prefer makeup with a bit more sass for spring 2024, a celebrity you can look to is Keke Palmer. At the NAACP Image Awards, she brought androgynous energy to the red carpet in a Tom Ford X Dolce & Gabanna coordination. To add a feminine touch to the menswear fit, she leveraged smokey eyes that flaunted just enough seductive power. As her eyes stood proudly as the focal point of this look created by Kenya Alexis, the rest of her face stayed quiet. The result was a balanced look that did its job on the carpet.

Hairstyle

We told you that voluminous hairstyles are one of the hair trends for 2024, and celebs only reiterated this last week. One of our favorite options was spotted on Ryan Destiny, who embraced the NAACP weekend with joy and volume. Her waist-length wavy hairstyle updated old Hollywood glamour for modern times and secured her a spot on our “best beauty looks” list.

Check out the top celebrity makeup looks and hairstyles spotted last week that you can explore for spring 2024…
