It seems “less is more” is the mantra for spring 2024 with celebrities favoring hairstyles and makeup looks that command attention without doing too much.
Among the big players last week, there was a general consensus to deliver easy, breezy, beautiful. Perhaps, this is due to the soft earthiness that saturated the atmosphere ahead of 2024 Earth Day. From Zendaya at the Challengers movie press rounds in Los Angeles (yes, she’s not done) to Jasmine Tookes posing for the gram, the presentations were the definition of understated glamour. But there was still a handful of stars who plied the subtle route with a twist. In this case, they leveraged the power of the classic red lips that punched just hard enough to keep us transfixed on them.

At a Fenty x PUMA event in London, Rihanna brought her enviable street swagger to town donning a grey oversized suit finished nicely with chunky footwear. To inject a feminine flair to an otherwise androgynous fit, the billionaire businesswoman opted for a bronzed-out subtle face beat. Featuring prominent contour juxtaposed with soft eyes, the singer added the classic red lipstick to the equation, and it resulted in a deserving sassy answer.
One thing we’ve noticed this spring is that neutrals are taking center stage. From beige to tan and white, style stars are taking an unconventional approach to fashion for the blooming season. But Zendaya decided to break with this last week for another leg of press rounds for the Challengers movie. The actress was a sight in a cut-out pastel pink number by Jacquemus. She reinforced the tone with a doll-up that saw full brows dance in unison with rosy cheeks and soft pink lips.

Regina King made a case for neutral tones in the city of Shanghai for a Louis Vuitton presentation. While her coordination was top-tier, it was her hairdo that was living rent-free in our heads.
