Last Week’s Best Beauty Looks Were Effortlessly Sultry

hat’s not to celebrate about Black women? From breaking new grounds, career-wise, and looking dang good while at it—to redefining beauty standards, brown skin girls are proving that indeed nothing can stop a woman determined to rise. For one, Janet Jackson reiterated this with her Together Again tour that kicked off last week, and naturally, Hollywood’s finest turned up in mood-board-worthy beauty takes. Guests were treated to one energy-filled performance after another, reminding us that even after 49 years in the business, Janet’s still got it! Celebrity makeup for spring.

When we were not drolling over Ms. Jackson and the stars that illuminated her show, other Black girls also kept us engaged in the beauty department. From Lagos to Johannesburg and New York, the ladies bloomed unrestrained in makeup and hairstyles that matched the lively vibe of spring.

The Looks

Makeup

There was something about the soft hints of sparkle that made Janet Jackson’s face beat one for the books. Jackson’s giving performance during her Together Again tour no doubt required a doll-up that will complement her ensemble without being distracting, and the soft elements did the job. From her lightly-filled brows to her subtle eye shimmer, and nude lips, the look, created by Preston Meneses, was everything.

Another celebrity makeup for spring that struck our hearts was the one spotted on Justine Skye. First, the singer’s complexion is flawless, so it’s unsurprising that she makes magic on it every time. Last week, she made a case for floating liners as she went about dancing to Soweto remix by Afrobeats stars Victony, Rema, and Don Toliver. The spring-appropriate look was generally subtle, but the green liner brought in some drama.

Hairstyle

Last week, Abbot Elementary’s Quinta Brunson made a stop at Jimmy Kimmel Live, and guess the protective style she opted for to make her entrance? Bantu knots, of course. Her large rendition flaunted a sense of drama that was fitting for her chic black dress.

Check out the best celebrity makeup looks and hairstyles for spring spotted last week…
