very girl recognizes the feeling of empowerment that stems from looking good thanks to a super-duper outfit, makeup, or hairstyle. It’s as though with every step you take you’re ready to conquer the world. We perceived this “feeling” last week, as Black stars provided plenty of reason to stay glued to them in the beauty department. From red carpet offerings to casual Instagram takes, the icons “slayed spectacularly” and we couldn’t help but feel empowered too.

The Looks
Makeup
While the warm seasons are often met with going daring with hair and makeup, there’s also room to tread subtly. Take, for instance, the no-makeup makeup looks that never seem to leave our celebrity makeup radar. Blame it on the need to make a case for flawless skin or the quest for an #iwokeuplikethis moment. Regardless of which, the trend is #celebrityapproved and very likely to be around for quite some time. Last week, two of our favorite girls, Keri Hilson and South Africa’s Ayanda Thabethe went the subtle round, thus, giving us another reason to add it to our Spring makeup options.
Over in Nigeria, the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards came calling loudly, and celebs answered with their full chest. As expected, there was more than enough glamour to go around between fashion and beauty, so much so that it made our heads spin! (You wouldn’t blame us. These stars came correct it was almost impossible to keep up, but we did). Media girl Toke Makinwa was bewitching in a full-on glam look for the award show. In between her well-tamed brows, winged liner, and bold lipstick, there was certainly no room for mediocrity.
Hair
We head back to the United States to drool over Justine Skye. Last week, the singer made a solid case for a braided ponytail hairstyle with well-laid edges. If you’ve been sitting on the fence with this one, allow Ms. Skye to serve as your hair inspiration. She undoubtedly knows how to get the mane done right!
