orget that we’re almost a month into fall, the festivities don’t start until Black celebs usher us into the season with their fall-appropriate beauty takes. Although it required our patience, the girls finally [and unanimously] rang in the cool temps with shades of brown, orange, and red. From the London Film Festival to the Universal Plus Africa launch in South Africa, last week saw a heavy lineup of events and we spotted a good dose of celebrity fall makeup looks and hairstyles to inspire your glam this season.

At the Vogue Forces of Fashion event held last week, Sabrina Elba stirred the city of London with a face beat that mesmerized in the most famous autumn tone — brown. Her perfectly-contoured face played up her nude eyes and full brows bringing some warmth to the overall look. Ms. Elba’s full lips served as the right canvas for the brown lip stain that tied the look nicely together. Such impeccable execution of a single tone shows that in makeup, less can indeed be more.
Just when we think we’ve seen the best that melanin can give, another deep-skinned goddess comes along and whisks our hearts away. Last week, that goddess was Jodie Turner-Smith who paraded her glorious black skin at the London Film Festival. The actress showed up in glossy red lips that vibrated alongside the metallic eyeshadow across her bottom lids. Other than those two elements, the rest of her face took the subtle route. For any dark-skinned babe looking for fail-proof celebrity fall makeup looks to try, we vote for Turner’s.
Hair
Now, on to some color! (Or at least, as much color as fall allows). South Africa’s movie sensation, Thuso Mbedu never disappoints in the beauty and fashion department and last week reiterated this. At the Academy Museum Gala, the starlet debuted her 4c coils in dark ginger, and girl it is something! Elsewhere, legendary supermodel Tyra Banks brought her brownish-blonde tresses out to play in a slightly wavy bob hairstyle that emphasized her defined chin.
