Last week’s best dressed male celebrities set the trend for 2023 as they embraced pieces that are expected to shape the year in fashion. Whether they were walking the red carpet at the season premiere of Starz’ BMF or walking the NBA and NFL stadium tunnels, A-listers gravitated towards styles that were superbly distinct–be it oversized jackets or colorful knitwear.
The Looks
Over in Dallas, Texas, NBA professional player Jayson Tatum walked the street in a pink Valentino reversible double-faced jacket with an unconventional funnel silhouette, which he wore over a white t-shirt. He complemented this jacket with a pair of black Valentino trousers and Nike Air Jordan 1 Low SE Fuchsia sneakers. Are reversible jackets making a comeback? Only time will tell.
At the Starz BMF season 2 premiere, rapper 2 Chainz walked the red carpet in a yellow Avirex Icon jacket, which he paired with red faux leather Avirex pants and a pair of red sneakers to match. He accessorized with a yellow Goyard bag which complemented the jacket perfectly and helped maintain the primary color theme, and a pair of vintage eyewear.
For the Buffalo Bills’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Akeem Davis-Gaither walked the tunnel in a monochromatic look we are obsessed with. He made his pre-game appearance in a beige Mechali cardigan which he layered over a Loro Piana turtleneck sweater of similar color. For pants, he opted for a pair of beige Homme Plisse Issey Miyake pleated pants and finished the look off with a pair of Air Jordan x Off White sneakers.
Black male celebrities upped the fashion ante last week, ushering us into 2023 with a taste of the trends to expect as the year progresses. We definitely have a lot to look forward to fashion-wise.
