While attending the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, walking the red carpets at the Fashion Trust Arabia Prize in Qatar, and the Forever Valentino exhibit, celebrities indeed played dress-up over the past few days. The key word is “played,” as every style offering echoed a well-thought-out assembly of sartorial goodness, giving room for individual interpretation. Many chose to rebuke traditional numbers in favor of more daring silhouettes that packed a punch.
The Looks
Kicking things off is Sabrina Elba who appeared on the Fashion Trust Arabia Prize red carpet in Qatar wearing an elegant black Miss Sohee dress coupled with a purple cape from the brand. What stole our attention were the hand-stitched appliques on the cape, which added some needed glamour to the look.
Meanwhile, at the Black Panther 2 premiere, the red carpet saw the return of the Queen of Fashion, Rihanna. Bad Gal Riri, who made her return to music last Friday, walked the step and repeats in a dirty grey Rick Owens Fall/Winter 2022 dress with a dramatic flare and matching shoes. Pure camp! This striking ensemble channeled the drama that a movie premiere red carpet demands without falling into the tulle or sequin gowns that were expected.
Camp outfits also caught our attention last week. At the Forever Valentino exhibit in Qatar, Naomi Campbell’s pink Valentino floor-length number took the center stage not only because of its vibrant color but also the head-turning feathered headgear she paired with it.
