1. Michael B. Jordan debuts ad for Calvin Klein spring campaign
Michael B. Jordan has been causing fans to swoon for a while, and that’s typically when he is fully clothed. But the heartthrob is really going to cause a stir now in his ad for the new Calvin Klein spring 2023 campaign, where he’s wearing nothing but his Calvins. According to reports, the campaign debuted on February 27, and the “Creed III” actor and director can be seen splashed on Calvin Klein billboards in New York and Los Angeles on Houston Street and La Cienega.
Jordan and the team at Calvin Klein have also posted those images on Instagram. The caption, like Jordan’s wardrobe, is sparse, and it simply states, “The debut. @michaelbjordan Calvins or nothing.” This is basically a tease, as the full campaign will launch on March 15.
2. Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid to headline Afro-nation Portugal
Afro Nation Portugal 2023 has announced the addition of main stage headliners Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido, as well as more new names including Little Simz, Popcaan, and Focalistic, all joining the world’s biggest lineup of Afrobeats and Amapaino this summer. Returning to the beautiful Portimao beach on June 28-30, Afro Nation has a star-studded line-up already boasting the likes of 50 Cent, Booba, Aya Nakamura, Fireboy DML, Asake, Arya Starr, Black Sherif, Oxlade, Dadju and Ms. Banks to name a few.
Day Splits for Afro Nation Portugal 2023 have also been announced, with Burna Boy, Aya Nakamura, and Popcaan opening the show on June 28, Wizkid, Little Simz, and Asake performing on June 29, and 50 Cent, Davido, Booba, and Fireboy DML providing the final fireworks on June 30.
3. Nigeria’s Presidential Elections: Tinubu declared the winner by INEC
The ruling party’s candidate Bola Tinubu has been declared the winner of Nigeria’s disputed presidential election by INEC, amidst widespread reports of voting malpractices. The 70-year-old veteran politician reportedly got 37% of the vote, while the PDP’s Atiku Abubakar polled 29%, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi 25%. The opposing parties have dismissed the final poll results as a sham, demanding a rerun.
Mr. Tinubu is one of Nigeria’s richest politicians and based his campaign on his record of rebuilding the biggest city, Lagos when he was governor. He was nevertheless defeated in the state by Mr. Obi, a relative newcomer in national politics—who mobilized the support of the youths, especially in urban areas, shaking up the country’s two-party system. Mr. Tinubu reportedly won most other states in his home region of the south-west. Across social media, many are calling this the worst election in Nigeria’s history.
4. South Africa: Thando Thabethe announces new reality show ‘Unstoppable Thabooty’
Radio DJ and media personality Thando Thabethe’s reality show “Unstoppable Thabooty” is coming to screens. Thando headed to her Instagram timeline to share a short teaser of her reality show but without details of when it will be airing. “The series is set to be Thabethe’s debut as an executive producer through her newly minted Redwood Productions that she cofounded with her business partner & accomplished TV producer Tumelo Maimela. The series will be broadcast on BET Africa, DStv channel 129, and more details on what viewers can expect will be revealed soon,” read a statement.

Cristiano Ronaldo has picked up the Saudi Pro League Player of the Month award for February after scoring eight goals in four games for Al-Nassr. Having not scored or assisted throughout January, the Portuguese superstar finally found his feet at his new club, recording two assists alongside his eight strikes. Ronaldo’s efforts have helped cement Al-Nassr’s place at the top of the table, and his performances were rewarded with the individual monthly prize, previously handed to Al-Hilal’s Salem Al-Dawsari.
Ronaldo was on blistering form throughout February. Not only did the 38-year-old get off the mark for Al-Nassr against Al Fateh on 3 February, but he celebrated scoring his 500th career goal in his side’s 0-4 win at Al Wehda six days later, where he netted all four. The Portugal international then provided his first two assists for his new club in a 2-1 victory over Al-Taawoun on February 17 — the first of which was a beauty — before rounding off the month with a hat-trick in Al-Nassr’s 0-3 win away to Damac last Saturday.
