1. Burna Boy set to perform at 2023 UEFA Champions League final

UEFA has revealed Burna Boy as one of the performers at the 2023 Champions League Final. The announcement was made via the Champions League’s official Twitter account on Thursday, March 16. In the video posted on Twitter, a delighted Burna Boy revealed that he will be performing at the Champions League final billed for Istanbul Turkey. In what’s a remarkable feat, Burna Boy will become the first Nigerian artiste to perform on the biggest stage of European Club football.

American DJ, artiste, and producer Marshmallow performed at the 2021 Champions League final in Portugal while Cuban Pop star Camila Cabello performed at the 2022 edition in Paris. The 2023 Champions League Final will take place on June 10, 2023, in Istanbul Turkey and Afrobeats will share the stage as two of the finest clubs in Europe compete for the biggest price.

2. Ja Morant Breaks His Silence Following Eight-Game Suspension

Ja Morant has spoken for the first time following his string of recent controversies. Morant sat down for an interview with ESPN’s Jalen Rose on Wednesday, within hours of the NBA announcing he would be suspended for eight games, including the six games he’s already missed. After doing a lot of soul-searching, Morant said he was in a better place now. The athlete described his partying at Shotgun Willie’s strip club, where he streamed himself on Instagram Live, as “pretty much just trying to be free.”

He also recently met with NBA commissioner Adam Silver. “It was good — pretty much an open discussion,” Morant said of his meeting with Silver. “Obviously, he said things I need to be better at, but more of just showing his support towards me. I accepted that, and I also sent my apologies to everybody — to the league, myself, my teammates, my family for putting that negativity towards all of us with a bad decision.”

3. South Africa: Costa Titch’s memorial service postponed

Constantinos “Costa Titch” Tsobanoglou’s memorial service which was expected to take place on Thursday has been postponed. The 28-year-old rapper from Mpumalanga collapsed and died while performing at the Ultra Music Festival at the Expo Centre in Johannesburg on March 11. The musician’s team said the delay was due to some fans, dubbed the “Titch Gang,” national and international, not being able to attend as a result of the short notice. “As we know, Costa was about inclusivity and unity, he would have loved to have everyone who he loved and who supported him to be there. Thank you for understanding and your continuous love and support you have shown the family, friends, and team.”

The family will confirm a new date and venue for the memorial, which will also be live-streamed on his YouTube channel. Details of the funeral have not yet been revealed, but will be disclosed when the new dates have been decided on.

4. Adekunle Gold signs international deal with Def Jam Records

Nigerian Afro-fusion singer, songwriter, and performer, Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold, has signed a mouth-watering deal with American multinational music recording company Def Jam Records. According to reports, the 36-year-old singer has inked a deal with the American multinational music recording label which is headed by Nigerian music executive Tunji Balogun.

In a statement issued by the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman, Tunji lauded Adekunle Gold for his craft, vocals, and showmanship, making it known that he has been following his music from way back. AG Baby equally expressed his excitement at joining the international label that has been home to legends like Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye West, and others. The Afropop singer also expressed how happy he is about working with his Nigerian brother, Balogun.

5. Sergio Ramos injured in training months before free agency as PSG injury struggles mount

PSG center-back Sergio Ramos picked up an injury in training, leaving PSG with only one fit senior player in the position. Ramos was unable to finish training due to a yet-unknown injury, according to PSG insider Hadrien Grenier. The 37-year-old’s knock leaves PSG with only one senior player in the position. It’s also a severe personal blow as he assesses his future options ahead of becoming a free agent.

The Parisians have been struck with an injury crisis at the back. Presnel Kimpembe is out for the season after tearing his Achilles, Nordi Mukiele wasn’t in training, while Marquinhos has been playing through a knock of his own. Ramos has played the second-most minutes of any PSG center-back this year, appearing in 24 of 27 Ligue 1 games. Ramos is out of contract at the end of the season. As of yet, there is no indication that an extension is imminent.
