Last Week, The Best Beauty Looks Treaded Beyond The Predictable Terrain

he unpredictability of life is undoubtedly one of its many delightful experiences. One moment, everything seems to be going a certain way and the next, it all takes a dramatic turn as though the initial journey never even happened. While some dread this uncertainty, others have learned to embrace it, and we no doubt fall into the latter category when it comes to beauty. Don’t blame us, Black women have developed a habit of keeping us on our toes!

Anyone who follows beauty trends, especially in relation to Black women, would surely attest that no two weeks are the same. The rich diversity, daring creativity, individuality, etc., all ensure that we’re always greeted with something new week after week. Thanks to the event lineup last week, we once again had the pleasure of witnessing Black women serving beauty looks in ways we really didn’t expect.

The Looks

Makeup

The floating liner trend has been around for a few years, but US Model, Brianna gave it a wild spin last week. Rather than use the “usual” eyeliner, she achieved her look with a striking tone of yellow eyeshadow that infused an aura of edge to a generally subtle look. Amid the sharp lines and curves across her lids, the bold choice of color further added to the look’s appeal.

Still on using bold eyeshadow to create a fierce look: Megan Thee Stallion is certainly a star to take lessons from. The hitmaker is famous for accentuating her eyes, and boy did she deliver last week! As she strutted on the Grammy’s red carpet, we noticed adventurous cat-eye makeup that served as the right complement for her leopard print dress. With such a killer look, we can probably name her Megan Thee Puma!

Hair

It’s not every day one comes across embellished cornrows, least of all from Alicia Keys. Well, we did say that the week was full of the unexpected. The multiple Grammy-winning singer added a huge dose of sparkle to delicate cornrows for an oomph effect. Talk about breathing new life into a hairdo!

Check out our picks of Black women serving beauty looks in unexpected ways from last week…
