Fashion has always been like that girl who inspires you to vamp up everything, including your style. In this light, fashion season has brought upon us the enthusiasm required to dress up for all occasions in grand style. With fashion weeks and award shows lined up back-to-back last week, there were ample opportunities for Black stylish ladies to showcase the array of glamorous designer ensembles they had waiting on their list. From Paris Fashion Week to Billboard Women In Music Awards, these ladies danced to the tune of events and presented themselves in outstanding attires, as they should.
The looks
High-end fashion designer Maison Valentino held a “rose-colored monochrome themed show” at Paris Fashion Week, where the Valentino Pink PP collection was revealed, and per usual, the designs made a resounding statement. Star actress Zendaya looked exceptional in a monochrome Valentino floral-detailed suit set during the show. We always trust the star to bring in the much-anticipated pizzazz to any look.
Still in the USA, Meagan Good attended the African American Film Critics Association Awards (AAFCA) in a sultry black Cleopatra velvet set by Bronx and Bronco. Good complemented the outfit with locs wrapped knowingly into an updo, with random jewelry injected into the tresses for added effect.
Over in South Africa, media darling Boity Thulo put her personal spin on a black and white ensemble without being cliché, a style twist that requires some expertise. Thulo’s dress by South African fashion brand House Of Zee made an interesting show on the eyes. It featured white and black feathers strategically placed around the midriff, and a frill-like fabric flowing effortlessly made the number a masterpiece.
The styles shared by Black celebrities and top fashion influencers last week were nothing short of chic, edgy, and glamorous, and it’s safe to say that we are, as usual, living vicariously through them.
