Black women keep defying the odds. Not only do they display exceptionalism in their respective fields, but they also defy conventional standards of beauty. In other words, they are as dynamic as they are fabulous. Last week, black celebrities and influencers across the world personified this with exceptional makeup glam and striking hairstyles that are a must-see.
Makeup
Statement-making was the name of the makeup game last week as black girls played to win. Kicking things off, Nigerian actress Sophie Alakija and American beauty influencer Taylor Anise came through with the colorful eye makeup trend. Sophie rocked a blue pigment on her lids accentuated with some silver glitter that reminded us of the good ol’ camping days. Riding the bright tinge wave, beauty blogger Taylor looked summer-ready with an eyeshadow melange of orange and gold. It’s safe to say the colorful fad is here to stay and its chic effect knows no bounds.
Bringing in some soft glam to the beauty scene, Beyoncé had the beyhive star-struck with her coral lips. The 28-time Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter was the perfect bombshell in the effortless glam look. Yara Shahidi’s barely-there graphic eyeliner makeup moment was oh-so refreshing. Simply put, anyone who came across her fun dainty look would be inspired, as she served major fresh skin goals to top it off.
Hair
Last week, a wide array of hairstyles were well represented as our Instagram feed witnessed a ritzy mix of lush tresses. Starting with a bang, Duckie Thot had us craving box braids this season. The South Sudanese / Australian Supermodel’s take on the goddess-like mane was an unsurprising hit. Keeping with African-inspired hairstyles, Jennifer Williams was all shades of youthful with a lush side swoop. The American reality TV personality had us swooning over her lengthy curled look.
To keep you in the know on what’s modish right now, we’ve got a lineup of exquisite beauty looks for you to revere.
