y now, you’re used to our weekly tales of Black women serving major beauty goals that it often seems impossible to top, but somehow, they always find a way to do so. Expectedly, that was the case last week as these stars went on a mission to outdo their past in the beauty department, and they did so with a notable nod to the culture. Last week, vocal powerhouse Kelly Rowland was honored with the Award of Courage by the amfAR (the Foundation for AIDS Research) and she showed up looking dang good. Although her face beat was subtle, it was impactful enough to complement her ensemble while playing up her features. Who knew that well-arched brows, blush cheeks, and nude lips were all you need to score effortless glam?
Still in the music department, Ashanti went about her day also making a case for a toned-down beat, but she upped the ante with good ol’ witchy lashes. The lashes activated a sultry vibe to the look alongside the charcoal-black eyeliner that adorned her lower and upper waterline. Pair that with her sharp contour, well-lined lips, and irresistible glow and you see why Ashanti made our list.
Hair
It appears that last week was a week for braids as we spotted plenty of styles on the stars, especially options that were African-inspired. Perhaps, this is due to the massive press rounds for the about-to-drop Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Two of the most notable styles paraded last week came courtesy of Thuso Mbedu and Danai Gurira. Mbedu chose to wear hers like a crown with the braids wrapping around gracefully and proudly. Meanwhile, Gurira opted for a swirly option.
