As days went by last week, the most stylish Black male celebrities didn’t miss a beat. They showed up and showed out in edgy, tailored and exaggerated pieces that made us once again admire their fashion prowess. Of course, at certain times, there’ll always be a place for tasteful yet understated fashion, but this wasn’t the case last week. The Looks
One of the best ways to get noticed involves dramatic takes, uncommon designs, and if you’re Folarin Falana, aka Falz, an even more flamboyant display of style. For the video shoot of his Mercy hit track, the Nigerian rapper continued his love affair with out-of-the-ordinary designs in this ensemble as styled by John. J. Angel. Falz wore a white tuxedo with frills at the hem and cut-out details on the sleeves over plain white baggy pants and a black inner vest. His accessories game was even stronger as he incorporated 3 layers of pendant chain into the look as well as a wide-rimmed printed scarf fedora hat. Finally, a white-embossed detail trainers saw his best foot forward.
The style shifts didn’t have to be dramatic in order to resonate. Gabriel Akinosho redefined casual formal in a two-tone ensemble. The menswear designer wore a penny brown colored pantsuit that sat comfortably on his frame. The trousers, which hung just above his ankle, gave way to black loafers with buckle detailing. The suit jacket was unbuttoned and revealed a classic button-down shirt in coral sand hue. Excitingly, a couple of buttons were left undone which did justice to the styling. This outfit further cemented Gabriel’s status as a style star to watch.
Bold gestures and a willingness to experiment dominated the streets, in Africa and abroad. Our best-dressed Black male celebrities were a delight to behold.
