he serial red-carpet affairs and glitzy celebrity ensembles have only drizzled more glam on the month. With award shows tucked nicely on every corner of January, celebrities have enough reason to go head-on with extravagant fashion. And of course, last week, they didn’t disappoint. A-listers surrendered to the beckoning of sass, making a show in ostentatious offerings. From the 2024 Governor’s Awards to movie premieres, they paraded themselves in lofty manners made possible by head-turning fits.
The looks
Our lenses might have been on Taraji P. Henson’s Color Purple style, but the way she lit up The Dolby Ballroom in a stunning Valdrin Sahiti dress was the absolute truth. The hand-embroidered black-and-gold number with 3D leaf appliqués married nicely with her David Webb jewelry and gold manicure, resulting in an unmissable slay. Plus the side-part bob and understated makeup sent a non-declining face card memo out.
From Golden Globes to the 2024 Governor’s Award, DaVine Joy Randolph put up a ready show last week. She played with shades of red at both award shows, but her coordination to the Governor’s Award took center stage. For the night, the actress sizzled in an embellished, draped, off-the-shoulder Tony Ward Couture number that stood out with grace. Indeed, all the details came together in unison to complement her silhouette.
Black and white is a classic win that never fades. At the Governor’s Award, Ava Duvernay did a solid ten in a Louis Vuitton dress. The sweetheart off-shoulder neckline, tiered white sleeves, and flattering length underscored a femme fatale energy. Add to that her diamond jewelry and chic updo, and you see why this is one of our favorite looks of the week. An absolute red-carpet-worthy moment.
