t was Women’s Week—naturally, the women would unleash their slay arsenal to ensure they did justice to the celebrations. From the Billboard Women in Music to Essence’s Black Women in Hollywood event, Black stars made it a mission to top headlines with their individualistic rendition of beauty. Then came the Oscars, which served as a fitting full-stop to a glamorous week. Unsurprisingly, the primary hurdle we encountered was narrowing down the best beauty looks to a mere ten. Simply put, the week was peppered with impressive beauty looks, reminding us why we love our job!

The Looks

Makeup

Lupita Nyong’o embodied the term “shimmer” on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscars party. Dazzling in a mermaid sequin dress from Giorgio Armani, the star elevated her radiance with complementary makeup. Here, she infused glamour with high-shine blue eyeshadow and unleashed her sultry side with glossy black lips. We concur, Ms. Nyong’o, that sometimes the most reliable way to shine is to take it literally.

Another standout at the Oscars was none other than Gabrielle Union-Wade. For the occasion, the A-list actress shone in a Carolina Herrera sculpted set, enhanced by Tiffany jewelry. Embracing a disco-inspired ensemble, she wisely chose an understated face beat to harmonize with the bold statement of her outfit. From her soft smokey eyes to her nude lips, the simplicity of the makeup effortlessly matched the loud statement of her attire. Undoubtedly, this stands out as one of the best beauty looks at the 2024 Oscars.

Hairstyles

As we focus on the best beauty looks at the 2024 Oscars, we’d be remiss to overlook other notable sights at different events. A case in point is Chloe Bailey at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event. Her sister, Halle, was one of the honorees, and Chloe looked every inch in a cheerful mood. The singer graced the carpet with waist-length chunky braids, complete with loose ends that made a strong impact.
