For Spring/Summer 2018, Ayo Van Elmar releases a collection tagged ‘Boomerang’. The collection by AVE is inspired by the originality and the undiluted stance of the native Australian in the vastness of her space.
The pride and functionality of shapes and colours embedded in artefacts, particularly in the boomerangs, are expressed in constructions that are almost parallel to these shapes.
The collection’s soft and subtle frames, feature pieces with wildly played out sleeves, blown out volumes and undulating lengths; characteristics that align with elements the designer perceived amongst the native Australian women.
