Turfah brought more than colours to the Arise Fashion Week 2019 runway. The brand’s female collection made the phrase “contemporary sophistication” mean something. Executed with such finesse, the collection had an alluring sense of wearability and more than a hint of contemporary opulence. The looks were a hit.
We couldn’t find any specific theme to narrow the female collection down but what we found was that pieces from the collection were ceremonious and zesty.
There was also something sensual about the pieces made from shimmery organza. The lightweight sheer fabric with crisp texture gave such pieces a glazy look. There was also the appearance of metallic lamé fabric and pieces made from the material gave off a mixed vibe of old and new Hollywood glamour.
For the Turfah men’s collection, it was more demure in terms of details and finishing. The colours were bright of course, but there was something more. It was definitely not normcore, rather it was chilled and flaunted an even more minimalistic approach to traditional African menswear silhouettes.
