Two weeks ago, Page Six broke the news of Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Anna Wintour and her husband, Shelby Bryan’s split. It appears this wasn’t a surprise to insiders as their 16-year marriage had somewhat been on the rocks since 2013.
Before their split, the couple shared a home in Greenwich, New York, which has never been shared with the public to date. However, the couple also shared a rustic farmhouse in Mastic, on the eastern end of Long Island, New York. The summer getaway was reportedly purchased in 2013.
The colonial-style four-bedroom house is on a gated estate and was decorated by Carrier and Company. The landscape of the 5.9-acre property was designed by the Landscape Designer and long-time friend of Anna Wintour, Miranda Brooks.
Wintour allegedly chose the original blue-collar Forge River location for her rural retreat as a snub to the Hamptons. She’s known to famously say, “I can import anyone I want. I don’t mind the location,” as a response to why she chose the rural and naturally calm environment.
Throughout her long years running Vogue US, we have come to know Anna Wintour as a woman of high and expensive taste. This seeps through to her taste for interior decoration as her abode is decorated with calm neutrals, stripes, florals and chintz, checks, ruffles, and canopy beds––all blended with seagrass, wicker, and worn wood.
A simple wooden farm gate gives onto a rough drive cobbled from dirt, sand, and pebbles on the exterior. The driveway winds through wild cherry trees in a meadow of high grass and ends in a small gravel court, fenced in faded brick and covered in ramblers with soft pink flowers. An old wood door cut into the wall is the only sign that you have arrived. Anna Wintour may live in a rural settlement, but her home’s interior and exterior designs are a gorgeous show of class in a reserved community.
