Hollywood actress and longtime humanitarian, Angelina Jolie is doing her own quota to feed underprivileged children as she donated USD 1 million to No Kid Hungry organization to help those in need during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
On kids, the coronavirus pandemic and the donation, Angelina Jolie said: “As of this week, over a billion children are out of school worldwide because of closures linked to coronavirus. Many children depend on the care and nutrition they receive during school hours, including nearly 22 million children in America who rely on food support. No Kid Hungry is making resolute efforts to reach as many of those children as possible.”
Billy Shore, the founder and executive chair of Share Our Strength (which is the organization behind No Kid Hungry) said in a statement: “People from all walks of life have risen to the unprecedented challenge of feeding hungry kids during a global pandemic. I’ve heard stories of heart-breaking need and immense creativity, but above all persistence—a sense that we won’t let any barrier stand between a child and the healthy meals they need.”
He also confirmed that the establishment had already given $2 million (£1.68) to 78 organizations in 30 states to help feed vulnerable children.
The Maleficent actor isn’t the only celebrity who has donated to coronavirus relief organizations. We recently reported that Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation donated $5 million (£4.2 million) towards organizations in the US and around the world. Former California governor and Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger pledged $1 million to a fund supplying resources to frontline medical staff.
