When you step out of your comfort zone to pursue your dreams, life begins to happen for you. That is the story of Alton Mason who left his home in Arizona at the age of 17 to pursue dancing and acting at the American Musical Dramatic Arts Academy in Los Angeles.
From assisting with choreography and getting to perform on the BET Awards with P. Diddy, Lil Kim, Jadakiss and Mase, Alton went on to model for Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 at Madison Square Garden. But he didn’t just stumble onto Kanye’s cast of models – he was discovered on Instagram in 2016.
His modelling career took off with speed as IMG Models signed him. In 2017, he walked for Gucci’s Fall 2017 show and was later featured in the brand’s first all-black Pre-Fall 2017 campaign.
Alton Mason would become the first black male model to take part in a Chanel runway show in the brand’s 109-year history for the Métiers d’Arts Collection.
The 21 year old continues to walk the runway even though dance is his first love – indeed he’s living the best both worlds. He has walked for Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Valentino, Fenty x Puma among other top designers.
