Yemi Alade Sings About Boyz, Mr Eazi Serenades His Lover + More Hard-Hitting African Music

It’s been a very interesting week in the African music scene as many African hard-hitting songs were released. From high-energy dance crazes to groovy tunes, this week has been a strong week for mainstream African music. And with all that’s happening around the world, music is one escape, many of us can relate to.

Veteran artists in Africa pushed their respective sounds beyond borders this week just as fresh talent from across the continent brought their creative energy into the mix.

Mama Africa, Yemi Alade returned with a groovy new single titled Boyz which is the first release off her upcoming project. Nigerian newcomer Omah Lay—whose song, Bad Influence has been on everyone’s lip—has cemented his place in the African music industry with the release of his new EP, Get Layd.

On the remix end, South African rapper, Sam Turpin re-released his 2019 song Sahara Flow with a very creative visual.

Here are the top five songs currently making waves across Africa…

1. Yemi Alade – Boyz

Boyz is a dance-worthy track, produced by Vtek. As its name already gave away, it sees the internationally dubbed Mama Africa, Yemi Alade singing about, boys — the types she likes, and the types she doesn’t.

The artist performed a segment of the song during YouTube and MTV Base Africa’s Africa Day Benefit Concert at Home on Monday.

2. Sam Turpin – Sahara Flow

South African rapper Sam Turpin recently collaborated with filmmaker Katya Abedian for a music video for the rapper’s 2019 single Sahara Flow. The beautiful video, showcases four models exhibiting their awesomeness in a flora themed setting and, in other scenes, a desert.

3. Mr. Eazi – I no go give up on you

Mr. Eazi has returned with another hit song, I No Go Give Up On You, his newest song since the release of Kpalanga earlier this year. The track, is a mid-tempo love song, with Mr. Eazi serenading his lover and sweetly telling her about his unwavering feelings for her. He released the track along with a humorous visualizer to accompany it. The song was produced by Blaq Jerzee.

4. ADH – Man Dem

ADH, as always, comes through with the stunning visuals for Man Dem, a compelling track produced on afro-fusion beat work. The song’s music video, directed by Moshady, was filmed in Dakar, Senegal. It is a depiction of the beauty and some of the key cultural elements of Senegal.

5. Omah Lay – Bad Influence

Talented Nigerian singer and songwriter, Omah Lay comes through with a brand new song which is titled Bad Influence which is off his new project, Get Layd. The African music industry newcomer is doing pretty good and is showing a lot of promise. This new song is sure to get you excited as it comes with a very catchy and sensational vibe for your listening and dancing pleasure.
