The Duke and Duchess of Sussex promised to show us the Royal Baby today, Wednesday after his birth on Monday and they have kept true to their words. The couple took to Instagram to announce the name of their first son as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
The announcement of Baby Archie was done with a picture at Windsor Castle. The image showed Meghan Markle showing off Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor to Her Majesty The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh – Prince Philip and The Duchess’ mother – Doria Ragland as Prince Harry looked on with pride. Baby Archie would be the Queen’s eighth great-grandchild.

For the announcement, Meghan Markle showed up in a cream coloured V-neck sleeveless trench dress with golden brown buttons. She paired this with a four-inch Manolo Blahnik pumps. Matching his mom’s dress, baby Archie was all wrapped up in a cream coloured blanket and knit cap while his dad, Prince Harry, opted for a grey suit, paired with a white shirt and black tie.
Wondering what the Baby Archie’s names mean? Archie, in this case, is not the short form of Archibald. Archie means genuine and bold or brave. Harrison means Harry’s Son – that was simple.
We all thought Baby Archie’s surname would be Sussex seeing as his dad used Wales when in the military. However, the couple chose Mountbatten-Windsor. The surname Mountbatten-Windsor is used by all male-line descendants of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip and is used by them if and when a surname is needed.
Meet the Baby Archie…
