Knanfe is a womenswear brand that aims to utilize its debut capsule in a way that captures the structured minimalist overtones. The idea is that these tones which are used throughout the collection would form a perfect feel-good moment for the everyday fashion lover.
The Abuja based brand led by Jemimah Nanfe Kefas-Oyeleke is centred on celebrating women even with life’s unavoidable situations. The details in the pieces sort of mirror this idea – think of the colourfulness, the busy prints, the uneven cut-offs; all of which are a representation of the upsy tupsy aspects of what it means to be a woman. For the brand, the personality of a Knanfe woman includes fluidity, uniqueness and beautiful inconsistency and that is what is offered in the collection.
We love the femininity and classy appeal of the pieces; its clean lines, the colourful separates, the cuts and the highlights, all of which work together to create a well detailed and defined collection.
According to the brand’s creative director,
“I look back to how it all started; the story of my mom, a dressmaker and especially my late father, who was a photographer before he joined the Nigerian Police Force. My dad was a fashion enthusiast who loved to photograph me when I was a young girl. ‘Knanfe’ the brand name is a fusion of my name and my dad’s and the raison d’être is a testament to living out my dream inspired by my parents; encouraging achieving fashionistas to find beauty in limbo but to strive to achieve their heart-set aspirations.”
