e recently spotted OAP Toke Makinwa, Nollywood actress Ebube Nwagbo and designer Toyin Lawani rocking the Balenciaga Triangle Pouch and couldn’t help wondering why the arm candy suddenly became so popular among Lagos IT-girls. The Balenciaga Triangle Pouch family was released in 2017 in four size and price variants including the Pochette S ($635), Duffle M ($2,150), Triangle Duffle Bag ($1,545) and Triangle Medium Pochette ($635) which was one of the more affordable IT bags of 2017.
From street runways to fashion blogs to celebrities, this bag was almost everywhere and I can totally see why! The bag has a subtlety that many high fashion statement bags typically don’t have, and because of it’s endearing simplicity it afforded fashionistas to lug it around without drawing too much attention whilst still drawing just the right amount of attention.
Back in June 2017, popular rapper Cardi B was spotted out in an all-pink outfit rocking the triangle bag. With the fickleness and short life span of fashion trends one is expected to jump in and jump out especially celebrities, however this seems to not be the case as fashionable Nigerian actress Ebube Nwagbo, fashion star and media girl Toke Makinwa and fashion designer and stylist Toyin Lawani have all been recently spotted rocking this Balenciaga bag in varying colours and with each of them giving it their own spin. We have to wonder if these celebrities rocking it means this bag is coming back? Or are they simply jumping on the trend late?
