Meet Muslimah blogger, Garuba Khadijah Abiola or “Dimple Khadi” as her followers know her. She’s a fashion enthusiast, medical student, and all-around stylista who hasn’t allowed religious boundaries to hold her back from expressing herself through her unique style, inspiring many young women in the process.
The Ukraine-based modest fashion blogger is well-known for her turbaned look and conservative yet uber-chic style. In this simple and straight-to-the-point interview, the Muslimah blogger shares why she started blogging, the challenges of fashion blogging, and her vision for the future.

Hi Khadi, tell us a bit about yourself
My name is Garuba Khadijah Abiola. I’m originally from Kwara State, Nigeria. I am currently a 5th-year medical student based in Ukraine at the moment. I also run a fashion blog, as you know.
What motivated you to start a fashion blog?
I started blogging to inspire people. A lot of people admire my dressing in school and on the street. So I was advised to start a blog through which many people from all around the world can get to know about my style, especially my signature head wraps.
How would you describe your own personal style?
I’d say my style is decent and classy/stylish.
So who’s your biggest inspiration fashion-wise?
They are many actually! I really admire fellow bloggers Stylepantry, Basma K, and a lot of other fashion bloggers and celebrities.
What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about Muslim women and fashion?
Some fellow Muslims believe a lady should be all covered and shouldn’t take pictures and all that, but others believe that people can gain a lot from you if you show them how to dress and look good.
Where do you tend to buy your clothes and why?
I shop online most of the time. I love shopping during sales, so whenever I get notified about sales on stores like sheinside, dresslink, cndirect, etc, I pick up my tab and I start shopping. Lol. I think I’m a shopaholic.
What would you say is the biggest challenge about fashion blogging?
The biggest challenge is to get the perfect weather and time for the shoot and to get someone to take the shot. My friends have been quite supportive. I have a camera, so my friends do the snapping and I do the editing. Recently, I got a tripod which I use to shoot myself when my friends are not available
What do you do when you’re not busy blogging?
When I’m not blogging, I’m either reading, seeing a Korean movie, or cooking… I’m almost always indoor except when I have an event like a birthday party to attend. I don’t club so I sleep on Friday nights before I pick up my medical books again on Saturday morning.
Where do you see your blog in the next five years?
I hope and pray my blog would have reached and inspired a lot of people in 5 years.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I see myself back in Nigeria, married with kids, and working in a hospital.
